Hope everyone had a great weekend. A new week is upon us and there is so much opportunity out there. Ok now time for the item of the week. MINI NOTEPAD… My baby. When you are walking, sitting on a subway, eating lunch or just chilling  ideas, images and other things pop up that you need to document before you forget it. I keep my pad in my back pocket and I take it EVERYWHERE. I have been known to whip it out anywhere. Great ideas occur all the time and the ability to write the ideas down and be able to refer to it is key. Look into investing into some.

Its been crazy hot this summer. I am not gonna complain because it is better then snow… WAY BETTER. NYC is a bake fest and I know back home in the DMV isn’t any better. I know we have our own ways of staying cool during the summer but I want to give you MY WAYS OF STAYING COOL DURING SUMMER!!!!

COLD WATER:

When I was younger I was a soda junkie(Neal Fact) but as I got older I figured out it was not good for me and water is awesome. As an athlete I drank a lot of sports drinks and water but I always took water for granted, I thought of it as a chore, something I had to do but I realized that water cools our machine(body) down and it is a great way to cool yourself down during these hot days. Another great thing about water is… wait for it… ITS FREE!!! When I’m feeling myself ill get a Fiji or Smartwater but I usually just get a gallon of 80 cent water. Whatever you like.

SHORTS:

I used to be all about big, long shorts but if I am not playing ball it is above the knee for me. Less is more. The more fabric that covers my body the more my body sweats so I try to keep it simple. My shorts are not at my balls unless I’m on the beach posing for a photo shoot or doing water aerobics in the ocean but I do keep my shorts a little above the knee. Shorts are called SHORTS for a reason.

TANK TOPS

I literally got sick of sweating out EVERY shirt I wore so I wear a tank when I can. I have found that I sweat A LOT less and I still look pretty stylish in a tank top so ill go with it.

SLEEVE ROLL:

Even though it feels like satan’s playground outside I sometimes want to throw on a sports shirt(I didn’t buy it to sit in my closet). I roll the sleeves to about my elbows and it usually gets the job done but if it is 90+ I will probably…

SHORT SLEEVES

Sport shirts, Golf shirts, V-Necks, Crew Necks, SHORT SLEEVES!!! If your job or profession allows you to wear short sleeves, DO IT. Part of being stylish is being comfortable in what you are wearing so do what is best for you.

There are a lot more things I do to keep cool in the summer like put my underwear in the freezer and take cold showers but remember… OWN IT, find your own ways of keeping cool in this hot summer and if you do have some interesting ways over keeping cool let us know

Our topic this week is the FIFA World Cup Soccer Tournament going on in South Africa. Have you been keeping up with the action? I know that some of you have, because the number of people watching soccer now is growing. What a heart break for Ghana on Saturday. Everyone thought that Ghana would have won the game with the penalty kick at the last second of regulation time. But it wasn’t meant to be, as Asamoah Gyan penalty kick hit the cross bar, and the game went into the penalty kick overtime.

The teams slated for the semi final matches are as follows: Uruguay vs Netherlands on Tuesday July 6, and Germany vs Spain, Wednesday July 7, 2010.

The FIFA World Cup has being a great economic boast for South Africa. Also this is the first time the world cup went to the continent of Africa. South Africa’s Home Affairs Department said that foreign tourist numbers has risen by 25% due to the world cup.

As with all sports there are some interesting casualties thus far. With the Nigerian poor showing at the World Cup, the President of Nigeria has suspended his nation’s football (Soccer) team from international competition for two years. France also had their problem which started after the 2-0 loss to Mexico. Striker Nicholas was sent home for verbally insulting the Raymond Domenech, the manager. The French team refused to train, and the French government summoned Domench to a hearing. Mexico’s coach also resigned after his team was defeated 3-1 by Argentina, and the team failed to make the quarter finals for the fifth time in a row.

All in all things have been exciting, as the U.S. Team did very well in spite of some of the questionable calls by some of the official referees. Congratulations to the U.S. Soccer Team.

Someone probably quoted it but it’s not about that. Last weekend was big for the company, two fashion shows and two photo shoots. The reason for this was “PEACE of BP”. PEACE of BP means Peace of the Big Picture. What inspired my direction for these line of shirts was the transition in my life. The great people at Capital Icon and PDB Group Venture are putting on “Fashion with Passion” fashion show. While I was back in MD I had to visit one of my favorite people, my barber Chris Sheppard @ Mirrors the Barber Salon. He has been cutting my hair for years and I always have to stop in and see him when I am in town. I also brought my boy in to get a cut and I snapped some pics…
